ITALIAN POLICE – EPATROL
Simplifying Minor Road Traffic Reports and Fine Collections
The Italian Police use mobile technology, to reduce downtime and increase efficiency.
Although, essentially a simple concept as far as technology goes – this was a particularly exciting project due to the importance of the industry it’s working for; and shows how mobile technology is further raising the bar of innovation.
- Manage minor traffic offences
- Collect immediate payment of fines
- Instant reports shared with authorities
- Fast form filling
The main objective was to provide the Italian Police Force with a minor traffic offence management tool – where the officers could quickly and efficiently charge perpetrators on the spot – take immediate payment and submit reports; reducing admin time and increasing productivity across many departments.
We worked closely with the Orwell Group, who provided the design to us, requesting our assistance in developing the front-end application. The app contained a small number of views but required the collection of a considerable amount of important data – so we made some suggestions on the best use of screen space and data capture.
TECHNICAL & UX CONSIDERATIONS
The biggest technical challenge of this project was internet connection. As the app required immediate payment and the use of officers time, we needed to manage data in such a way that any drop in connectivity would not impact the users in continuing their business.
